finds. writing workshops in China & Paris
A few weeks ago I attended the 19th Annual Travel, Food, and Photography Conference at Book Passage in Corte Madera, CA. (Yes, it is a great conference where you meet very talented writers in an intimate setting. Talented, kind and nice.)
Some of the faculty members promoted their upcoming travel workshops. I found this writing workshop to be oh so enticing:
March 3-14, 2011: Travel Writing in Southwestern China with Gadling.com editor and author of Lonely Planet’s Guide to Travel Writing, @Don_George. Includes cultural expeditions in Yunnan Province, and, of course, writing.
Don partners with the Linden Centre for the retreat venue, which looks very comfortable and conducive to creative cultural immersion.
Cost: $4589, includes accommodations, food, tours, andworkshop fees. (Note: Does not include international air fare.)
Author of The Art of Pilgrimage, filmmaker and conference faculty member Phil Cousineau is leading a early summer trip in 2011 to Paris:
June 19-30, 2011: We’ll Always Have Paris! Phil Cousineau and award-winning journalist Mort Rosenblum combine morning cultural forays with afternoon workshopping and city walking. Of course, this is Paris!
The focus of the workshop to work on or start a piece for publication.
Cost: $5590 per person based on double occupancy. (Note: Does not include international air fare.)
If you can’t wait until 2011, Cynthia Morris (@OriginalImpulse) is offering a Curious Paris: Tap Your Creative Juju trip from October 19-25, 2010.
Cynthia teaches both visual journaling and writing. Personally, I love that this is not strictly a writing workshop with an aim to publish.
On this trip. the itinerary focuses on engaging each of the senses.
Cost: $1100. (Note: Does not include airfare or accommodations. Most meals not included.) If you bring a friend, you each save $100.
If anyone signs up to go on one of these fantastic trips, please let me know!
